okay i went to verizon and i playd with both phones and they are pretty soild, internet is amazing it is so fast since android uses google chrome, great camera, nice menus, only thing bad is the secret pricing from verizon like the HTC DROID ERIS is $99 but it is actually $199 and the MOTOROLLA DROID is $299 but they are really nice phones and the touch screen on both are amazing so if ur upgrade is up then buy this phone

The Droid does NOT have multitouch for the virtual keyboard, no idea why everyone seems to think that it does. Engadget showed the difference with iPhones multitouch keyboard and Droids lack of multitouch.

  3. Brithoveen zegt:

They should make two versions of this phone. One with and one without the keyboard (since its so bad…)

sounds to me that Android is coming up in the world and could be the very thing that surpasses iPhone in the near future.

I am getting the Motorola Droid once I get a new job and add a line, yes I know the bill will be about 180 but I don’t care the job I am getting pays at least 13 an hour so yes I will have enough.

Might get the Droid Eris as a starter.

Fair statement. I’m inclined to believe that certain phones are better than the Iphone in certain aspects.. and vice versa. If you compare an Iphones strengths to someone elses non-strengths, Iphone will be better.. and same with others. Each phone has a different strength.

I got my hands on the Droid to day and I wanted to steel it from the verizon store. The camera does lag alot but its better then my phone. Took some time to work out the functions and multitasking but I love it.

regardless of wat anybody says, iPhone is still great……BUT Android is getting popular n the size of that screen is gonna catch alota peoples eye…. But like they said, its not reasonable to compare a rookie to a 3-year veteran.

Droid sucks at vid. It fail! You MAD!

  9. DeathfireD zegt:

@Millahtime Droid has multi touch support. the problem is Verizon had google disable the feature in the default programs that come bundled with the Droid. There are a few apps you can get in the market that have a multi touch feature so you can use it on your Droid. I’m really not sure why Verizon would want to remove the feature. It’s stupid on their part. I can only hope someone come sup with a mod to make it work with default apps.

ditto on not liking the Droid keyboard thing I HATE IT!!!

  11. residentpswii zegt:

In what way is it not reasonable? The iPhone has practically been the same for three years and there hasn’t been a single phone that could take it down

  12. franzjess zegt:

Motorola Droid sucks as hell!!!!!! iPhone all tha waaaaaayyyy!!!!!!!!! fuck all y’all Droid users!!!!!! love me or hate me, i don’t fuckin care!!!

  13. victormuyiwafolabi12 zegt:

    Motorola droid kicks iphone ass

  14. LordDestros zegt:

I don’t see how it’s secret. It depends on your contract. Users getting a new 2 year contract will get it for $199.

  15. LordDestros zegt:

Android is a Linux-based OS developed by Google. Android 2.0 is the new release of Android. Android debuted on the HTC Dream (a.k.a. T-Mobile G1) a bit more than a year ago.

  16. LordDestros zegt:

Yes. You can double check with VZW’s Droid website or Wikipedia if you don’t believe me.

  17. LordDestros zegt:

Errm, if you meant Flash (i.e. Adobe Flash) then no though it seems like will come out next year for Android. It does have flash for the camera though.

  18. dragonfire121 zegt:

Is Wi-Fi free on the droid?

  19. Ozarkarms zegt:

um…wi-fi is free everywhere. Some hotspots charge for using thier access.

  20. jbhc123 zegt:

    “Those pesky accelerometers!!”

    hahahahahahahahaha

  21. funkdified1 zegt:

There is NO multitouch on the keyboard of the Droid!!!! The software supports multitouch but it is NOT enabled anywhere on the phone (on the USA version). We need to stop sending out this false propaganda.

    I love the Droids, btw.

  22. Millahtime zegt:

Yes I know that the phone hardware itself supports it, but Andoird does not here in the US.

So, back to the comment I made, the Droid does in fact not have a multitouch virtual keyboard.

  23. Warlondo zegt:

Ha @ hating on phones… I’m diggn the droid, I’m going to go with a droid. i was thinking about a mytouch… but then the droid looks like its gonna kick some kind of ass…:D

  24. Millahtime zegt:

And Verizon has nothing to do with it, Google disables multitouch support in Android to avoid legal issues with Apple. Seems everyone forgets that Apple owns all the patents to both multitouch and all multitouch gestures in the OS. Google and Apple used to be very close, with even Eric Schmidt sitting on Apples board until recently. Apple demanded Google leave multitouch support officially out of Android, Google has no control if manufacturers like HTC choose to activate it like in the Hero.

  25. mikehwang521 zegt:

you contradict yourself. you say: “verizon has nothing to do with it, google disabled multitouch support in android.”
htc eris is also android (google) phone, but it has multitouch for browser, texting. google should disable multitouch on eris too if they want “to avoid legal issues.”
but they didn’t, therefore, it means that multitouch support is activated by phone “manufactureres like HTC.” same goes for motorola, they activated multitouch. therefore google did not disable multitouch.

  26. Thank you for the reasonable critique. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do some research about this. I am very glad to see such great information being shared freely out there.
